City of Chicago Christmas Tree Recycling Program, January 6th through January 20th

Each holiday season we take home over $1 billion dollars worth of fresh cut trees in the U.S. They brighten our homes, infuse the air with merriment, and after a few days or weeks, out they go. By recycling trees, we can salvage their valuable nutrients, conserve landfill space, and give some nutrients back to nature.

This year the City's Christmas Tree Recycling Program will run from January 6th through the 20th at 24 parks across the city. The trees collected will be shredded and turned into mulch that's used by the Chicago Parks District and also made available to Chicago residents free of charge.
