Chicago Winter Overnight Parking Ban is Active from Dec, 1st through April 1

Chicago’s winter overnight parking ban is going into effect.
The seasonal parking restriction consumes 107 miles of the city’s most critical arterial streets from 3:00am – 7:00 am and is active from December 1, 2011 through April 1, 2012.
Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Thomas G. Byrne said the reason for the ban is “to make sure that critical routes are up and running at all hours so that emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can get through.”
The parking ban is enforced regardless of snow.
According to a press release from Streets and Sanitation, violators who ignore the ban face a minimum towing fee of $150, a $50 ticket and a storage fee of $10 a day—which increases over time if your car is not picked up.
The signs that mark the overnight ban are posted alongside signs for the 2-inch snow parking ban. Both signs should be recognized and obeyed, the release said.
