This Winter...Get a Shovel, Not a Ticket!

Shoveling Your Sidewalk is the Law in Chicago
Chicago Municipal Code (10-8-180) Snow and ice removal.
Every owner, lessee, tenant, occupant or other person having charge of any building or lot of ground in the city abutting upon any public way or public place shall remove the snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of such building or lot of ground. City of Chicago fines range from $250-$500 per day.

Safe Sidewalks Are Everyone’s Business
Keeping your sidewalk clear and safe to walk across keeps Logan Square in business during the winter. Kids need to get to school. Commuters need to get to the bus and train to get to work. Customers need to get to your store or office. Please pitch in and do your part to keep the neighborhood moving.
REMINDER: When shoveling please don't put snow on the wheel chair ramps on the sidewalk.

Please also be reminded that using articles to obstruct any public way or reserve parking could lead to a citation by the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Chicago Winter Overnight Parking Ban is Active from Dec, 1st through April 1

Chicago’s winter overnight parking ban is going into effect.

The seasonal parking restriction consumes 107 miles of the city’s most critical arterial streets from 3:00am – 7:00 am and is active from December 1, 2011 through April 1, 2012.

Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Thomas G. Byrne said the reason for the ban is “to make sure that critical routes are up and running at all hours so that emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can get through.”
