Chicago’s winter overnight parking ban is going into effect. The seasonal parking restriction consumes 107 miles of the city’s most critical arterial streets from 3:00am – 7:00 am and is active from December 1, 2011 through April 1, 2012. Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Thomas G. Byrne said the reason for the ban is “to make sure that critical routes are up and running at all hours so that emergency vehicles, buses and other traffic can get through.” The parking ban is enforced regardless of snow.
